Holly Burns and roughly a dozen fellow runners at a Washington meet turned their backs on the starting gun when a male athlete took his place among the girls. The others sprinted forward; these daughters of Camas stepped slowly past the line and into the woods, surrendering their race to preserve the meaning of the girls' division.
The actor here is the Dispossessor, the one who claims female space by administrative decree and school policy that erases the distinction between male and female bodies. His presence is not accidental but the predictable outcome of institutions that have subordinated biological reality to ideological claim.
This act of refusal echoes the long witness of Christendom, which from the ancient creeds onward has confessed that God made man male and female in ordered difference, an order no human court or athletic association may lawfully dissolve. The same conviction guided the Reformers as they restored household and commonwealth under the Word rather than under the novelties of their age.
The governing principle is the created order itself: sex is not a social construct but the first division of humanity under divine law, and competitions built upon that order exist to honor the difference, not to pretend it away. To force girls to race against males is to compel them to deny what their own bodies and the creeds alike declare.
School officials who enable the invasion and parents who remain silent become complicit in the erasure. The girls who walked away have already named the lie; their action stands as judgment upon every board and administrator who chose policy over protection.
The faithful remnant must now follow their lead. Withdraw daughters from races, teams, and schools that enforce the fiction. Build separate leagues under parental and church oversight where the distinction between male and female is honored as a gift rather than an obstacle.
Every further meet that includes a male runner repeats the same violation. The only faithful response is continued refusal and the steady construction of parallel institutions that once more place daughters under the protection of fathers and the order of creation.
